A Wichita man has been sentenced to life in prison for having sexual relations with an underage girl.
A judge sentenced 27-year-old Breyon Mukes on a sex crime charge, and a nine-month sentence was handed down on a weapons charge. Mukes will be eligible for parole after 25 years.
The crimes took place in September, 2014 in Wichita. Mukes was convicted in 2016 but the convictions were overturned by the Kansas Court of Appeals in 2019. A new trial was held in February of this year and Mukes was found guilty.
Sedgwick County District Judge Kevin O’Connor ruled that Mukes will have to finish his sentence for attempted aggravated robbery in an unrelated case from 2012, and then he will begin his life sentence on the sex crime conviction.
