Wichita man convicted in woman’s 2020 disappearance and death

A Wichita man has been convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the disappearance and death of a woman in 2020.

The Kansas Attorney General’s Office said 50-year-old Robert Bruce Mans, Jr entered a no-contest plea in Marion County District Court on one count of voluntary manslaughter and one count of aggravated battery.   A judge accepted the plea and sentencing was scheduled for May 23rd.

Mans was convicted in the death of 27-year-old Shalan Niccole Gannon of Wichita.   Prosecutor said Gannon was killed on or about April 8th, 2020.   She was reported missing on April 11th and her body was found in June, 2020 in the Ninnescah River in rural Sumner County.

The case was investigated by Wichita police, Marion police, and the sheriff’s offices in Marion, Butler and Sumner counties, along with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.  The case was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Marion County Attorney’s Office.
