The Wichita Fire Department announced on Thursday that veteran firefighter Joshua Bruggeman died Wednesday night from COVID-19 complications. He was 46 years old.

Fire Department Chief Tammy Snow said that Bruggeman was hospitalized Monday evening and tested positive for the virus soon after. He had been with the department for 17 years.

Bruggeman is survived by his wife and four daughters.
