The City of Wichita has announced the hiring of Jesse Romo as the new Director of Airports for the city. Romo will take office November 29th, taking over for Victor White, who retired in June.
Romo is currently the Airport Director for the Manhattan Regional Airport in Manhattan, Kansas. Before that he served as Director of Aviation for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He has a Master of Business Administration in Aviation degree with a focus on human resources management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also an accredited professional and licensed pilot.
City Manager Robert Layton said Romo has an extensive aviation background and he has had proven success at various levels of aviation management.
The Director of Airports is responsible for oversight and operations at Wichita’s Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport and Colonel James Jabara Airport.
