Emergency crews were searching along I-235 after a small aircraft reported engine trouble on its way to Wichita’s Eisenhower National Airport.
The pilot reported an engine out and another one possibly failing around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the pilot reported he would not make it to the airport. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the plane was on a flight from Boulder, Colorado to Augusta.
Crews found the plane after it landed in the Big Ditch near K-96 and West Street. The KHP said the plane landed on its wheels and had very little damage, and the pilot was not hurt.
