WSU Tech has been working on plans for a return to campus with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The school’s president, Dr. Sheree Utash, said the school will offer a hybrid of in-person and online classes in the fall, and she wants the school to be a national leader in that effort.
The school is serving over 3,000 students a year. Dr. Utash recently told Sedgwick County commissioners that the focus this fall will be on helping laid-off workers in finding new careers. The university is taking part in a national campaign promoted by President Trump’s daughter Ivanka, titled “Find Something New.”
Dr. Utash said WSU Tech will also continue to work with high schools and high school students to help them continue their education. She said the school is also in touch with local industries to make sure the school is building the workforce that they will need.
Dr. Utash said students from the spring have completed all of the work they needed to do in order to finish the semester. She said the campuses have reopened but a lot of work is still being done virtually, and there will be a focus on protecting the health and safety of students and staff when classes begin in the fall.
