From 1:00 p.m. Wednesday to 7:00 p.m. Saturday an excessive heat warning will be in effect for central and south central Kansas. Heat Index values between 105 and 108 degrees are expected, with afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s in southeast Kansas and 100 to 105 degrees in central and south central Kansas. Young children, the elderly, and pets are most susceptible to heat related illnesses. You should also take additional precautions if you work or spend time outside.
